Dear Dr. Reisfeld and Staff,
Thank you doesn’t even begin to express how grateful I am to you after having the ETS surgery done in August. It has changed my life in so many ways. Now, knowing what it is like to live with sweat-free hands and armpits, I could not imagine going back to the old ways. I had the surgery done almost two months ago and things are going great. My hands are 100% sweat-free and my armpits are 90-95% sweat-free. My feet still sweat more than normal but even that has been reduced quite a bit since the procedure. I do experience some compensatory sweating on my back and legs mainly, but it is nothing compared to the humiliation of having my hands dripping with sweat. Even having compensatory sweating, it is not all the time like the hand and armpit sweating was, it is only when I am in extremely hot weather for a long time or am working out. Also, the recovery for the surgery was not as bad as I had imagined. I was only really sore the day of the surgery and then moderately sore the next day. I felt completely back to normal in less than a week and I even moved into my new apartment at school only five days later.
I am currently a sophomore in college and I wish I had heard about your center for hyperhidrosis a long time ago. I guess I was lucky that I didn’t have to wait until I was any older. For as long as I can remember my hands and armpits were very sweaty. It was quite humiliating, especially in school. Now, I do not fear meeting new people and shaking hands, or doing group work in class or even having to get up in front of a group of people to talk. Even taking tests is so much easier for me now because my hands are no longer dripping all over the paper. The surgery has changed my life in so many ways and I am so grateful.
Everyone at the Center for Hyperhidrosis was very kind and made me feel very comfortable. It was a big help being able to contact people who had previously had the surgery done. I contacted a girl who lived in my hometown and she made me feel more comfortable about going out to California to have the surgery. It was also amazing to me to see that many people were living with the same condition I was and that I was not alone. Please feel free to allow patients or anyone who has questions about the surgery, to contact me. I would love to spread the news about this surgery because it is amazing. I thank you again so much and I am extremely grateful to all of you for doing what you do and for changing my life.
Sincerely,
Jill M.
